The Wholistic Vet

OK I was reading this blog and I said who wrote this was it me?

The Wholistic Vet is a brand new blog started this year and is written by Laurie S. Coger, DVM, CVCP. Dr. Coger works at Bloomingrove Veterinary Hospital in Rensselaer, NY and is definitely liked minded with myself as an integrative practitioner, even down to the same wording of wholistic instead of holistic to describe the type of medicine we practice.

I am going to keep an eye on this blog and see how it goes; it is always great to have another like minded person to read and write about. So far I really like her view point on the Top Veterinary Advances for 2007????

Keep it up Dr. Coger, because I’ll keep reading.

Good stories from a dog rescuer

Ok I have to give kudos to a fellow blogger and dog rescuer. Check out the rescue stories from Shephard’s Haven Sanctuary - rescue4furbabies.com

This one about a second rescue of two dogs is just too funny. The Further Rescue of Pepper and Rex
This story reminds me of my own little border collie, Meme, when she was a pup and destroyed anything and everything she could get her mouth on. It did make me upset at the time but when I look at the edges of my wooden coffee table now I find it very humorous. We have meant to buy a new one after she was out of the habit of chewing and now that she is 20 months old we really should get a new one. However it now has a story and character, just because it has chewed edges and corners and looks like we should live in a trailer doesn’t matter does it?

The Life of My Dog

OK this is not about Meme (my Border Collie) or even Ollie (my old guy) but rather the website - The Life of My Dog

The Life of My Dog is the brainchild of Kate and David Marshall and I have to say it is a great concept. They sell a memoir book about your dog…that’s right YOUR dog! It is basically a journal that has 140 questions for you to answer and by the time you are finished you have written your dogs biography.

In their own words -

This journal features 140 prompts to guide you through the telling of your dog’s story. The prompts help jog your memory and help the stories flow. You can answer with as much or as little detail as you want.

The five main sections of the journal cover the entire time you knew your dog, from first bringing your dog home to the final farewell and everything in between. It is up to you to decide where one section leaves off and the next one begins.

Also check out their new venture into video…http://thelifeofmydog.com/funny-dog-videos/ It appears as if they are going to have funny videos of dogs. You just have to love the first one - how could you not it is a Border Collie!

Check them out at The Life of My Dog

Top 5 ways to keep your dog healthy

Top 5 Natural Health Essentials for A Happy, Healthy Dog is an article found on www.smalldogsparadise.com written by Renee You can check out the full article here - Top 5

I will have to completely agree with this article. In my opinion, the top three are the most important with proper diet, exercise, and less vaccination being key components. The other two spaying/neutering and grooming are also important but the top three are by far the best way to keep your dog healthy.

Good Article Renee - keep up the good work.

More on Dog Food Recall

OK this may be my last post on the Dog food Recall…not because I am not concerned about it, I truly am, but rather there is a fantastic blog I recently discovered that is right on top of this issue. So if any of you need more information on the dog food recall please visit the Pet Connection Blog

Their last post suggests three other places to go to get the most up to date information on what dog foods are being recalled (yes there are more foods being recalled)… these three are - itchmo, The Pet Food List, and Pet Food tracker

I am also going to make Pet Connection a permanent link on the side bar for future reference because they are doing a great job. Very passionate people.
