More on Dog Food Recall

OK this may be my last post on the Dog food Recall…not because I am not concerned about it, I truly am, but rather there is a fantastic blog I recently discovered that is right on top of this issue. So if any of you need more information on the dog food recall please visit the Pet Connection Blog

Their last post suggests three other places to go to get the most up to date information on what dog foods are being recalled (yes there are more foods being recalled)… these three are - itchmo, The Pet Food List, and Pet Food tracker

I am also going to make Pet Connection a permanent link on the side bar for future reference because they are doing a great job. Very passionate people.

Dog Food Recall FDA list

Here is the link to the FDA’s Dog and Cat Food Recall list.

Be sure if you have any of these foods to not feed it to your dog, but I know the majority of you reading this feed raw or a holistic brand of dog food.

and interestingly SmartPak has voluntarily recalled one of their new dog foods because they used rice protein from the same company that is the source of the toxins in the recalled dog food list. Check out the story here… www.emaxhealth.com/75/11397.html

More food for thought

With the food recall going on the push for raw feeding and holistic dog foods is on the rise. In fact at one of the canine food stores I frequent, they are having problems getting some of the foods, not because they have been recalled but rather those foods have seen dramatic increases in sales since the dog food recall.

Here is an article and podcast from Animal Talk Naturally featuring Dr. Tom Lonsdale of Raw Meaty Bones. It is definitely worth a listen check it out here - The Silent Spring of Dog and Cat Health

Dog Food Recall

I should have gotten this up earlier on the dog food recall, but since you all are feeding Raw or a good quality holistic dog food you should not have to worry.

Here is a link to the list of dog foods that have been affected by the recall.
